Ranjith's latest directorial venture Kadal Kadannu Oru Mathukutty is one of the most-hyped movies of the year 2013. Prior to its release, the ensemble cast of Malayalam superstars has soared up the filmgoers' expectations to sky high. But the movie seems to have failed to meet the expectations.

Mathukutty (Mammootty) is an un-employed NRI, who is settled with his family in Germany. He is assigned with a responsibility to invite the leading superstars in Malayalam - Mohanlal and Dileep, for a cultural show that is being organised by the German Malayalis. Mathukutty comes to Kottayam to invite the stars. Later on, Mathukutty gets involved in public affairs too.

On reaching Kerala, Mathukkutty meets his old flame, Rosy. She is one of the chorus singers in the church. Mathukutty and his native friends goes to meet the leading stars in the industry. They meet actor Dileep on the sets of his upcoming movie. All are surprised to meet a star so close and express their gratitude to Mathukutty for getting them such a chance.

With some good and punching humour, the movie happens to end in a good way. Kadal Kadannu Oru Mathykutty also has some good songs in it. Of them, one song has been very much acclaimed by the viewers. Rest of the cast have done justice to their roles. But they seem to be unnoticed as the whole story revolves around only Mathukutty.

Kadal Kadannu Oru Mathukkutty is produced by Prithviraj, Santhosh Sivan and Shaji Natesan under the banner of August Cinemas.
